ENAGE Flyer
Each student is to submit written documentation following days absent. (Parent or Doctor Note) Additionally, it is important that your child ask for any missed work following an absence. Valuable minutes of instructional time are missed each time your child is tardy or absent. We are committed to providing the best education possible for your child. Regrettably, this process is adversely affected by poor attendance and causes your student to fall behind academically. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential in the education of children.
We know that you care and are concerned about your child’s success in school, and it is our goal to help in resolving this problem. If you have any questions, please contact your school Social Worker.
Colquitt County Board of Education Protocol for Attendance is as follows:
- Five (5) unexcused days – School based Conference.
- Seven (7) unexcused days – Hearing with School Officials, District Attorney Representative, and Department of Family and Children Services.
- Twelve (12) unexcused days – possible legal action.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership with Colquitt County Schools and ensuring the best educational experience for your child.
Dress/Grooming
Although dress reflects personal and family choice, students’ dress should be appropriate for school. Students should dress in a manner, which will not distract others from learning nor be offensive in nature. The administrative staff may address any other concerns at their discretion. All staff members are expected to assist in monitoring students. Students wearing inappropriate clothing will be sent to an assistant principal. Grooming is a personal matter that should take place in the privacy of your own home or in the restroom.

Dear Families:
We want your child to be successful in school, and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, children also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, manage strong emotions, and get along with others.
During September, we'll begin Second Step• Elementary, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve children's social-emotional skills. Second Step skills and concepts are designed to help children in and out of school.
No pupil shall be discriminated against because of age, color, disability, parental status, marital status, race, national origin, religion, sex, or veteran status. Parents with a temporary or permanent disability may request the district to provide appropriate accommodations necessary for them to participate in essential instructional activities of their students. Students at least eighteen (18) years of age may submit their requests. It is the policy of the Colquitt County Board of Education to provide a free appropriate public education to each qualified student with a disability within its jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability. The district intends to ensure that students who are disabled within the definition of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 are identified, evaluated, and provided with appropriate educational services. Students may be disabled under this policy even though they do not require services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Under Section 504, due process rights of qualified students with disabilities and their parents are guaranteed in the Colquitt County Board of Education. Dr. Nick Chastain is the District Coordinator of Section 504 for Colquitt County Schools. He may be contacted at the Colquitt County Board of Education Office, 710 Lane Street Moultrie, GA 31767, 229-890-6200 nicholas.chastain@colquitt.k12.ga.us.
