CRISIS rESOURCES
The Co-Responder Program is a collaborative effort between the school district and Georgia Pines CSB to provide on-site, real-time mental health support for students experiencing emotional or behavioral crises during the school day.
The Co-Responder Team will consist of a licensed mental health professional and a school safety or resource officer specially trained to respond to student needs in a compassionate, trauma-informed, and supportive manner.
Purpose of the Co-Responder Program
- Provide immediate support for students in crisis.
- Promote student safety and de-escalation through professional mental health intervention.
- Reduce unnecessary law enforcement involvement or hospitalization.
- Offer preventive mental health sessions and classroom support to address concerns before they become crises.
- Connect students and families with appropriate community and school-based services.
- Support school staff in developing appropriate plans for students returning from crisis situations.
Parents or guardians will always be contacted if their child is involved in a response. This program is designed to be supportive, not punitive.
In addition to crisis response, the Co-Responder Team will lead preventive sessions, such as small-group check-ins, coping skills workshops, and awareness lessons focused on mental wellness, emotional regulation, and decision-making.
These sessions help students build resilience, manage stress, and recognize when to seek help.
