The Colquitt County Board of Education marked a significant transition of leadership this week as the gavel officially passed from outgoing Chairman Hayden Willis to the newly appointed Chairman, Matthew Clifton.
The transition represents a passing of the torch between two dedicated public servants committed to the academic excellence and operational stability of the district.
Hayden Willis concludes a two-year tenure as Chairman, a role he assumed shortly after joining the board in 2023. Willis’s leadership as Chairman was characterized by a steady hand and a focus on fiscal responsibility. During his term, the district navigated the complexities of capital outlay projects and the strengthening of community partnerships.
Reflecting on his leadership, Mr. Chappuis shared:
"We are profoundly grateful for the impact of Mr. Willis’ service to our district as Chairman. He led with unwavering professionalism and the highest degree of integrity, ensuring our focus remained where it belongs: on the success of our students."
