Dexter Mosley Act - Parent meeting

The Dexter Mosley Act is a Georgia law that allows homeschool students in grades 6–12 to participate in extracurricular and interscholastic activities within the Colquitt County School District.

This means if your child is homeschooled, they can still represent Colquitt County School District in activities such as football, cheerleading, FFA, chorus, or academic competitions, just like any other student in their district.

To participate, homeschool students must:

  • Take at least one qualifying course through their local public school each semester they’re involved in an activity.
  • Meet the same academic and behavior expectations as full-time students.
  • Complete a few extra steps to verify their homeschool status and grades (handled through Central Enrollment).

The Dexter Mosley Act helps ensure that all students, whether homeschooled or attending school, have the opportunity to learn, grow, and belong through school activities. Several homeschool students are already playing sports, participating in clubs, and performing in fine arts groups on our campuses through this legislation.

If you would like to learn more about the Dexter Mosley Act, please make plans to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, October 28, at 6 p.m. in the Colquitt County High School cafeteria.

We will have district leaders, school administrators, and enrollment personnel on hand to answer any questions you may have. You will also get to hear from several parents and students currently enrolled in the program. Thank you for helping our efforts to improve education for everyone and every ONE. We look forward to seeing you later this month at the Dexter Mosley Act meeting!
