Willie J Williams Middle School

Parent Engagement Plan

2025-2026 school year
Dr.Josh Purvis, Principal
Revised 07/09/2025

What is Title 1?

Willie J Williams Middle school is identified as a Title 1 school as part of Every Student Success Act (ESSA). Title 1 is designed to support state and local school reform efforts tied to
the challenging state academic standards to improve teaching and learning for students. Title 1 programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include
strategies to support family engagement. All Title 1 schools must jointly develop with parents and family members a written parent engagement plan.

School Plan for Shared Student Achievement

What is it?

This is a plan of how Willie J Williams will provide opportunities to improve family engagement to support student learning. Willie J values the contributions and involvement of parents and
family members to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This plan describes the different ways that Willie J will support family engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and home.

How is it developed?

Willie J Williams invited all parents to attend our annual spring input meeting to review and revise the Parent Engagement plan as well as the districts plan, the school wide plan, building
staff capacity, the school parent compact and Family engagement budget and the Comprehensive LEA Plan (CLIP). Willie J also welcomes parent input and comments at any time regarding the plan. The plan and input forms are posted on our school website for parents to view and submit feedback. The plan is also available in the Parent resource area located in the front office. Parent Engagement plans were distributed to all parents during the annual revision meeting. All parent feedback was used to revise the school plan.

Who is it for?

All students participating in the Title 1, part A school-wide program, and their families, are encouraged and invited to fully participate in the opportunities described in this plan. Willie J will provide full opportunities for participation of parents with limited English, parents with disabilities and parents of migratory children.

Where is it available?

At the beginning of the year, the plan is included in the student handbook that is given to all students. The plan will also be posted on the school website. Parents can also retrieve a copy of the plan in the Parent resource center (Front office).

2025-2026 District Goals:

● The CCSD seeks to increase student achievement in Literacy as measured by the GMAS.
● The CCSD seeks to increase attendance of all students as measured by the chronic absenteeism rate.

2025-2026 School Goals:

● By the end of the 25-26 school year, increase student achievement in all academic areas, specifically improving the student growth percentile level by 5%
● By the end of the 25-26 school year, Willie J will decrease the achievement gap in proficiency between the lowest performing subgroups and highest as measured by GMAS by 5%.

School Parent Compact:

The parents, students and school staff developed the school compact. The teachers suggested home learning strategies, parents added ideas to make them more specific, and students told
us what would help them learn. An Annual revision meeting is held each year to review the compact and make changes based upon the needs of students. Parents and stakeholders are welcome to provide feedback on the compact and plan for the next school year. Visit our website for more information.

Parent Resource Area:

Willie J Williams Parent resource center is located in the Main office at the school. It is open to all parents between the hours of 8:00-3:00 each day. Contact our school Parent Engagement
liaison Aisha Parsons at 229-890-6183 for more information.

Parent Engagement

Willie J Williams believes that family engagement means the participation of parents and family members in regular two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic
learning and other school activities, including:
● That parents play an integral role in assisting their child's learning.
● That parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education at school.
● That parents are full partners in their child's education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child.

Building Capacity

Willie J Williams Middle School will take the following measures to promote and support parents and family members as an important foundation of the school in order to strengthen the school
and reach our schools goals.
We Will:
● Ensure that all information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities are sent home in English and Spanish, posted on the school website, including facebook and remind.
● Educate our staff via PLC’s, faculty meetings or planning periods and emails on strategies to improve communication with parents and ideas to increase family engagement with reading and math activities for students outside the classroom.
● Communicate with all families on a regular basis regarding parent engagement events, such as phone calls, social media, and flyers. Use progress reports to assist parents in monitoring their child's progress.
● Provide necessary materials for parent conferences, meetings and activities to help parents work with their child to improve their child's achievement, including the harms of copyright piracy.
● Listen and respond to parents; requests for additional support for parent engagement activities and provide parent resources to meet our parents needs.
● Partner with Jr High schools, college and career ready resources or organizations, parent resource centers, or other programs to help prepare parents and their children for successful school transitioning.
● Collect feedback from parents and family members at all events, place input cards around the building and post a suggestion form on the school website in order to respond to parents' requests for additional support with parent engagement activities.
