Goal of the counseling program
The goal of the Norman Park Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive program that addresses the academic, personal/social, and career development of all students. Development in these areas is addressed through classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individualized counseling sessions. Classroom guidance is taught by the school counselor to all students in kindergarten through fifth grade. These lessons focus on the character education theme of the month, the Georgia Department of Education's career lessons, and personal safety and abuse prevention lessons (Monique Burr Foundation).

PBIS at Norman Park
(Positive Behavioral interventions and supports of GEORGIA)
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school's sense of safety, and support improved academic outcomes. Norman Park Elementary is committed to implementing the PBIS program and uses our 3 expectations to remind students of their responsibility throughout the school day.
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Safe
Students are also reminded to PARK when facing a difficult situation.
- Pause,
- And breathe
- Respond
- Kindly
Students who are following these expectations are acknowledged through classroom acknowledgement systems, “Golden” awards, and PBIS events throughout the year.
