ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Independent student use of personal electronic devices may be permitted for instructional purposes at the discretion of the attending school administration.  Schools choosing to allow personal electronic devices will notify parents and provide a Bring Your Own Technology contract outlining all details. Cell phones, if brought to school, should be put away during the day and should be turned off.  The Colquitt County School System, its staff, or employees, are not liable for any device lost, stolen or damaged on campus.  If a device is lost, stolen or damaged, it will be handled through the administrative office. The technology is allowed for educational purposes and only to enhance the classroom experience.  Teachers will decide when it may be used and for what purpose(s). The technology may only be used to access files on computer or Internet sites which are relevant to the classroom curriculum.Students take full responsibility for their personal electronic/digital devices. Additionally, students are responsible for management, trouble shooting, and technical support of their personal devices. The school/district is not responsible for technical support of or repairs to personal devices. In the event that the student does not turn over the cell phone or device on the first request of a school employee, the student will be referred to the discipline office and will be subject to disciplinary actions including in school suspension and suspension. The student’s parents/guardians will be notified.
