Beta Club is by invitation only to students who have an 85 or above average in each subject, are on grade level, and have no more than one office referral in a year.
C.H.A.M.P.S. is a twelve-week program that targets fifth graders. The program was designed by the Georgia Sheriff’s Association and stands for Choosing Healthily Activities and Methods Promoting Safety. C.H.A.M.P.S. promotes child participation in health activities that are drug and alcohol-free, non-violent, and promote safety. Some of the course programs include Alcohol Awareness, Drug Awareness, Choices and Consequences, Positive Alternatives, Vehicle Safety, and Seat Belt Usage.The flexible, twelve-week program includes a weekly hour-long lesson from a C.H.A.M.P.S. Certified Deputy Sheriff. Subject matter includes: Internet Safety, Bullying (Gangs, Violence, Peer Pressure, Choices, and Consequences), Alcohol, Drugs (Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Prescription Drug Abuse),Outdoor Activities (ATV Safety, Fishing, Hunting and Firearm Safety).

Stage Hawgs allows students to participate in the Drama Arts. Students paricipate in the annual musical led by Ms. Elle Perryman. Students are allowed to share their talents, practice acting, singing, and dancing as well as learning to accentuate their speaking skills. If students enjoy working behind the scenes, they are welcome to join the Stage Hawgs Design Team which creates and designs props for the musical. Permission forms must be signed and returned before a child can participate. Spaces are limited this year. Interested in playing the guitar? Join our group to learn to play the guitar! No prior experience is nescessary and GEAR provides guitars for everyone. Permission forms must be signed and returned before the student can participate. Contact Ms. Elle Perryman with any questions.
4-H is a youth organization for boys and girls in grades 4– 12. 4-H teaches leadership and members are encouraged to participate in county, district, and state-wide 4-H activities, volunteer for community service, and participate in a project each year.

Resource classes are offered once per week during school hours. Students may choose from a variety of classes that include yoga, DIY, cooking, robotics, photography, year book, aviation, etc. All teachers participate in creating these special experiences for students to explore.
Throughout the year, Mrs. Kim, the art teacher, offers opportunities for students to enter art contests as part of the art program at GEAR. Students also compete for a spot in an exhibition in March of each year. 30-35 students disply their artwork at the Arts Center for Youth Art Month (YAM), alongside students from other schools in the county.
