Lifeline Internet Service Discount

This link has information on a Federal Benefit called Lifeline that can help get parents discounted internet service:  https://www.usac.org/lifeline/eligibility/national-verifier/

Lifeline does not provide a free service.   Income eligible households (automatic qualification for households already receiving a federal benefit such as Medicaid, SNAP, etc) can apply either online or by paper copy (attached) to verify their qualification for the program.  They will be required to submit proof.  Then they can contact a service provider (AT&T and Windstream are listed as helping with the application and giving the Lifeline discount in this area) to set up service.   

I spoke with Leslie at Windstream in Moultrie (985-8000) who stated that any parent can contact her and she will help them with all verification paperwork and enroll them for the Lifeline discount.  Right now, for parents with kids going virtual, Windstream is offering free activation, free installation, and 1st 2 months service free.  The basic service package is usually 34+tax/month, but they will apply the discount starting month 3 of service.
