C.A. Gray counselor, Pam Heidelberg, met with mentors for C.A.G.J.H.S. students. The time and dedication invested by our local community members is an invaluable asset in the lives of our young people. Mentors make a difference! (February 2014)

S.T.E.M. partners, Beau Sherman (of C.N.S. and Georgia Tech) and Frank Cannon (of C.N.S.) met this week with Ms. Pam Heidelberg (guidance counselor) and Ms. Sheila Smith (assistant principal) to discuss curriculum opportunities and engineering events for C.A. Gray students. The C.A. Gray family is excited about partnerships like these and the impact they will have on students' learning experiences. (January 2014)

DonorsChoose.org has funded Mr. Liles' request for his "Saltwater Ecosystem for the Classroom" project. Thanks to donations from Timothy Smith (Georgia), Ashley Huston (Brooklyn, NY), and the AT&T Foundation, Mr. Liles will receive a marine aquarium kit valued at $240.30. On Saturday, 11.16.13, 37 Gray students attended a "Science Saturday" Field Trip at V.S.U. The students were accompanied by Dr. Jackson (principal), Mrs. Smith & Mr. Hill (assistant principals), Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Arnold, Mrs. Norman, and Dr. Ann Horne. The group met in the cafeteria parking lot at 7:45 a.m. and departed at 8:00 a.m. Students were well-behaved and had a great time of learning and fellowship together at the university as well as a picnic at Drexel Park. Special thanks to Ms. Boyd for helping out with provisions for a tasty and nutritious lunch! More information about "Science Saturdays" at V.S.U.

On Tuesday, 10.22.13, a group of students and teachers from Gray visited the Pat Thomas Planetarium at Florida State University in Tallahassee. The planetarium has been in operation since 1982, and it was recently upgraded to a state-of-the-art digital system with high definition projectors, powerful computers and advanced software.

Future Forecaster of the Week

The Fox 31 Weather Department is sponsoring a weather contest where each Friday we choose one child who has entered (grades 3-8) to deliver a portion of the forecast and be featured on FOX 31.  This has been a great success with the participants, but we are in need of more entries to this contest.  In the past, we have had entire grades submit entries for this contest.
