Wednesday 2/11/26 Black Excellence/Innovators Day
This day is about expanding how we define excellence. Too often, excellence is reduced to fame, wealth, or entertainment.
Dress Ideas:
- In all black
- As scientists, inventors, educators, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, etc.
- College or university shirts
- ID badge with a name+field
- Scrubs, Lab Coats (healthcare field)
- Glasses
- School spirit wear
- Community service shirt
- Artsy outfit
- Inspirational Black history shirts with quotes or messages
Friday 2/13/26 HBCU Day
HBCU celebrates Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the role they have played and continue to play in expanding access to education.
Dress Ideas:
-HBCU apparel or colors
-College shirts or sweatshirts
-Professional or school-spirited attire representing education and future goals
Wednesday, 2/18/26 Sports Legends Day
We will highlight Black athletes who have made an impact not only through their talent, but through their courage, leadership, and influence beyond the game.
Dress ideas:
-Jerseys or apparel honoring Black athletes
-team colors or sports gear
-school appropriate athletic wear
Friday 2/20/26- Decades of Black History
Decades of Black History highlights how Black history, culture, and contributions have evolved across time while still shaping the world we live in today.
Dress ideas:
1920s Harlem Renaissance (neutral tones, jazz references, poetry)
1940s Foundations and Resistance (clean, classic polished looks)
1960s Civil Rights (black and white outfits, peace symbols, quote shirts)
1970s Black Pride & Expression (Afrocentric prints and colors, natural hairstyles)
1980s-90s Hip Hop Evolution (denim, sneakers, bold colors, hip-hop-inspired outfits)
2000s-present (modern fashion, statement tees, self-expression)
-Wear colors, patterns, or styles inspired by that era
-Highlight music, art, or movements from that time
Wednesday 2/25/26- Black Authors and Intellectuals Day
This day celebrates black thinkers, writers, authors, scholars, truth-tellers whose words have shaped history, challenged systems, and expanded how we understand the world.
Dress ideas:
-wear clothing inspired by books or authors
-display book covers on lanyards or badges
-wear quote shirts or academic /creative attire
-carry a favorite book by a black author
Friday 2/27/26 The Soundtrack of Black History Day
This day celebrates the rhythms, movements, and sounds created by black communities that have shaped global culture.
Dress ideas:
-Music inspired outfits
-Represent a particular genre of music (country, blues, gospel, r&b, afrobeats, opera, etc.)
-Dance-inspired or performance style clothing
-Carry a small sign or badge naming the genre of music you are representing.
