Bright Ideas Grants

Three C. A. Gray teachers received the "I'm a Bright Ideas Teacher" grant from Colquitt EMC this year. Bright Ideas awards money to teachers for innovative lessons and projects to energize students' learning abilities. The purpose of the Bright Ideas Program is to provide resources for teachers that will enable them to plan and implement special instructional opportunities to improve student achievement through the implementation of the Georgia Performance Standards.

Ms. Brandie Nolan will be introducing coding through her social studies classes on STEAM-X. The funds from this grant will be used to purchase the remaining Raspberry Pi devices needed for this year-long project. Mr. Jamie Hunter will use his grant money to buy building supplies, soil, fertilizer, and other materials for the school's raised garden beds. Mr. Joe Whitfield plans to buy materials to help engage his students in Poetry Out Loud - a performance art that encourages teens to make their voices heard through writing and speaking.
